Overview

China Institute for Science and Technology Policy at Tsinghua University (CISTP) was jointly founded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and Tsinghua University in 2003. It focuses on the strategy of invigorating China through the development of science and education, sustainable development strategy and national long-term development goals. It’s also planned to carry out theoretical and applied researches regarding the international scientific and technological development trends, national science and technology development strategies and related public policy areas. The goal is to develop itself into a leading think tank with impact in the technology development strategy and related policy areas.

   

   

CISTP now relies on the School of Public Policy and Management of Tsinghua University. There are more than 10 full-time researchers, 14 advisory fellows and nearly 30 adjunct research fellows.

 

   

Since established, CISTP has participated or undertaken national medium- to long-range program for scientific and technological development, the program of education developing strategy, evaluation for Innovative Program of the CAS, revision of the Law of Scientific and Technological Progress, etc.

   

It has accumulated a certain advantage in the field of national innovation system, and science and technology globalization. There are plenty of academic articles published in "Management World", "China Soft Science", "Studies in Science of Science", “Nature” and other high-level academic journals. And some research results and policy consultation were approved by national leaders and adopted by relevant departments.
